The initial tricking stream of information about the 2010 Mustang left a sour taste in my mouth, because as the old saying goes, ” If it ain’t broke, dont fix it,” and the Mustang was certainly not “broke” by any means. Ford, however, has seen fit to re-sculpt the exterior lines, re-design the interior, and tune up the suspension a bit. I had the chance to hop behind the wheel of the 2010 Mustang GT convertible and check out the final result for myself.
Hyundai’s aptly named rear-wheeled drive coupe has caught the eye of many an enthusiast since its j-turning debut at last year’s New York Auto Show, and it’s not difficult to see why. Hyundai’s second attempt at an RWD performance car, the Genesis coupe’s 3.8L V6 is an intriguing addition to the sports car market, a place populated with luxury coupes and beastly muscle cars. So how will the Genesis contend?
I don’t go upstate much, and when I do, it’s usually for ill-advised plummeting down a mountain side with a plank of wood bound to my feet. Heading out to Gran Prix New York and taking the Genesis coupe out for a spin seemed like an ideal reason to take the trip.
Some media events are less about the product and more about the people. Case in point, the Tesla Model S event I attended last week ( yes, I’ve been blog-lazy, let’s carry on). Not particularly knowing what to expect, I grabbed the ever stalwart V to join me to see just how much Model S we’d be privy to. Car and open bar. I’m there. Read more
Pontiac has been officially given the death-knell, and I’m sad to see them go. “The Pontiac Brand will be phased out by the end of 2010″ says their updated viability plan press release. My hands-on Pontiac experience has been less than stellar. The Sunfire was easily one of the worst cars I have ever had the misfortune to drive/see/touch, and the G6 was so much fun, I got my license suspended in it. Hoo-ray.
I’m dedicating this post to one particular Pontiac, the 1976 firebird Trans Am 400 my folks got married in.
The apple, it seems, does not fall too far from the tree.
Many optimist are attempting to stave off the pain by hoping that, when the economic shitstorm clears, Pontiac will return, but only time can tell. So until the debut of the Pontiac Lazarus Coupe, take a look back at some of the greats in Pontiac’s History, share a few memorable stories, and pour one out for the dart.
